FUN ACTIVITIES

If you are anything like me, your most memorable moments with you mom or dad were small occasions when they looked at you with an approving smile and you knew you were loved and accepted.  My parents had a difficult doing "fun" activities with us kids.  But I know now it was their own past that kept them from truly enjoying us.

One of my most memorable times with my dad was when him and I would camp together.  Just him and I.  My parents were divorced when I was 9 and my siblings were his step children.  But what brings a smile to my face every time I think of it was when we would be traveling down the road to our destination and we would be singing old camp songs.  My dad had bought a book that had songs in it that had to be a hundred years old.  We learned all of them and sang our hearts out.  I still have that book, although the cover is off.

I will post some fun activities in the future, but it's important to remember, it's not the activity that is important, it's how you make your child feel when you are doing it with them.  Make them feel like they each are the most important person in the world!
